There is a tendency, especially in the US, to declare all politics bad. One of the reasons for this is that we have so few choices here and the influence and ideology of capitalism and the market is so powerful. There are two parties from which to choose, both parties representing Wall Street and the billionaires that control the political and economic life of the country.
The choices are so bad and the experience is such, that millions of US Americans has withdrawn from politics altogether while other have grasped fro straws with desperate appeals to right wing neo-fascist demagoguery. Millions have drawn the false conclusion that all politicians are corrupt and evil, like it's a personal problem, a weakness of individual character. The two parties that have dominated US economic and political life for over a century are nearing the end of days for them.
All politics is not bad. This is not the case as this man shows. He is an Irish MP, called a TD in Ireland and a socialist. What he says here is truth. And it should not simply apply to Zionism or Israel of course. As Norman Finkelstein said in a previous video I posted, he believes people can change and Israel is redeemable. In my personal opinion, the sectarian violence that has plagued Ireland, the communal violence that has equally plagued the Indian sub-continent and much of the geo-political crises that have their roots in capitalism and colonialism, including the Israel/Paestine crisis cannot be resolved by the same system of production that birthed them.
Ireland has had a long tradition of supporting colonial struggles as it was British capitalism's first colony with a centuries long tradition of struggling for independence.
