Who Would Organize a Rock Concert outside a Concentration Camp?

Richard Mellor

The rave, which is as I say in the video, a big party, sort of like a rock festival, was about 3.5 miles outside Gaza. Given what has gone on in Gaza, the destruction, the control of every day life, the inability to leave or enter without the permission of the Zionist regime, I ask what sort of people would organize, let alone attend such a thing. A bit distasteful isn't it, a music concert outside a concentration camp? It does reveal clearly what Israeli's think of Palestinians. It could just as easily be a cattle shed.

Your “analysis” is worse than useless. You obviously know nothing about Hamas. Like ISIS and Al Qaeda it is a reactionary, fundamentalist Islamic group whose stated purpose since inception includes genocide against the Jews. It is for the expulsion and liquidation of all Jews—in Palestine, the Mideast and beyond. It was formed specifically to oppose, counter and undermine the PLO’s embrace of a two state solution, not to mention any idea of a secular unitary nation of Arabs and Jews. Far from an act of “resistance”, the Oct 7 raid was a pogrom, aimed at slaughtering as many Jews as possible—children, women, and men. It’s pigeon in Israel was not only a deadly attack on Israeli Jews, it was a bitter and terrifying betrayal of the Palestinian people and their fight for sovereignty and independence. Hamas knew there would be, and counted on, the devastating Israeli response. In the end, its campaign of wanton, Jew-hate slaughter will have set the Palestinians back years. Hamas has ruled Gaza with an iron fist, smashing all opposition and curtailing women’s rights with “Islamic purity”. It has lost credibility in Gaza, as the Palestinian Authority has in the Weat Bank. Palestine must, and can, develop a new leadership that will fight uncompromisingly for independence and sovereignty while vociferously opposing and denouncing Jew-hate as the ANC did with reactionary Black currents demanding “one settler, one bullet”. Your “analysis” is simply a thinly-veiled apology for Hamas’ virulent anti-semitism dressed up as “resistance”. As for your denunciation of the festival attendees, it is worse than ridiculous and stupid. Many, if not most, of them—like many of the butchered kibbutz residents—were actually active opponents of the government, the occupation, the denial of rights to Palestinian Israeli citizens, as well as supporters of a two-state solution. A GENUINE resistance leadership would, like Mandela and the ANC in South Africa, be bending every effort to find common ground with, and support from, disaffected elements in the dominant population, not slaughtering them because “all Jews are the enemy and must be eliminated”.

the Gaza Strip isn't a "concentration camp" - it's a self governing community, who's leaders happen to be racist fanatics

Also, what kind of "socialist" would justify the mass murder of a bunch of teenagers at a techno rave? Is that atrocity OK because the young people in question were Jewish?

I have to agree with 'Anonymous' on Hamas. Just like the provisional IRA here in N. Ireland used terror tactics against anyone who disagreed with its political outlook, Hamas pretends to be acting in the interests of the people. The IRA changed the narrative from justice and equal rights for all (as espoused by the Civil Rights Movement) to one of driving out the British (which included almost a million people who had lived here for hundreds of years).
Likewise Hamas has changed the narrative in Israel. The IRA ruled the catholic areas here with an iron fist, persecuting anyone who befriended someone from 'the other side', torturing and murdering any dissenters. The used the catholic population for their own ends just as Hamas is doing in Palestine.

Hamas was welcomed onto the scene by the Zionist Government as the latter did not want to do a deal with the secular PLO.
The two state solution has been dead for years and I have to say that as a socialist, I never agreed with it anyway. You can't have real democracy in a country which gives preference to any group based on religion or ethnicity. Palestine needs to be a place in which all ethnicities have equal rights and people can live together as they did before WW1.

The actions of an elite group of paramilitaries does not in my view constitute an upraising of the people, and the attacks on 7th October were as wrong as those on Bloody Friday in Belfast in 1972.

I offered a similar reflection. the revelation of a complete separation of consciousness among the israelis living normal life...so called
very sad ...and the wake-up call came hard

civil society, the third force in the contentions for dominance, needs to amplify insistence on "cease fire" and ADD "come to the table to talk."... what would be a peace and the pieces of a peace fair and as just to all as possible. ?

the world's voice is amplifying disgust with what the war system has brought us.
terrorist attacks on the privileged innocents, and genocidal destruction of the Gaza land, buildings, water, people. scaring a whole next generation...endlessing the war just again.

The need, after cease fire,, is for the war makers come to the table to talk. and to allow themselves to consider the peacemaking ideas, possibilities and interventions of the peacemakers. A citizen initiated world peace meeting is the need, to endeavor the ends of all the wars and a refocusing of priorities and resources on climate and environmental urgencies and basic human welfare and security.

End the whole war system is the call we need...Begin Peace, uncover the peace always ready. System change is the human need...

i attach a leaflet draft circulating at our weekly Ann Arbor demonstration against the war. any suggestions would be appreciated.

END THE WHOLE WAR SYSTEM
The War System is defined by the Pentagon as “Full Spectrum Domination”.
TheWar System is rooted in a culture of patriarchy, command, hierarchy, fear,
impunity, greed, deceit, theft, debt and ultimately violence and killing.
The War System purpose is to maintain, or change, the existing political and economic power realities,
themselves often established by war and violence.
>BEGIN PEACE uncover the peace always ready

The Peace System aspires to “Full Spectrum Cooperation.”
Peace envisions gender rebalancing in decision making, democracy,
restorative justice, accountability, honesty and often reparations.
Caring, sharing, helping and healing are the virtues of Peace.
Especially healing is needed. Recognize that the War System, and its
wider culture of Domination, injures nearly everyone.
Trauma is endemic, even for the victors with blood on their hands.
Compassion and Empathy are the needed qualities ... and Courage.
A “turning of hearts” is the experience bridging old divisions.
PEACE IS NEEDED
THE WHOLE LIFE SYSTEM IS CALLING FOR HELP…
War is the biggest polluter, oil consumer, waster of life and love.
The sea is warming, the protozoa dying, the sixth extinction coming.
The forests are burning, the droughts spreading, the alarm sounding.
A shift of focus and priorities is the fierce urgency of now.
The need is not to dominate, better emphasize to cooperate.
Recognize multiple overlapping sovereignties and centers of power
from families to workplaces to nations and the regions of the world.
