British Labor Movement: Mick Lynch slams Labour politicians in speech to thousands

Richard Mellor

There are some huge developments taking place in the UK. This is Mike Lynch who has been demonized by the British capitalist press, in particular the right wing rags like the Daily Express, Daily Mail, Murdock's mouthpieces, the BBC and so on.  This will occur in the US as the unraveling of capitalism drives us back 150 years.

As I have stated in earlier posts here  and here, the true face of the ruling class becomes more blatant when the class struggle breaks out in to the open. Biden, the most pro-union president ever has called on his class colleagues in the US Congress, Democrats and Republicans to  come to the aid of the railroad magnates and impose a contract on the railroad workers and their unions that they have already rejected. Biden and Pelosi are revealing their true colors lying to the nation claiming they are acting to save jobs when it is profits they are saving.

It is nauseating to watch Biden cry crocodile tears saying how hard it is for him to use the state to deny workers the right to strike. If him, his party and any of them were anything but enemies of working class people they'd call on Congress to impose a sick leave program on the rail bosses and the speculators and other parasites like Warren Buffet that own the industry.

The railroads should be nationalized and taken in to public ownership. I don't want to hear from people how important it is to support the lesser of two evils and those that demonize the Republican Party as the cause of all our ills. Both parties are the enemies of the working class in the U.S. and the Democrats are merely the party of the trade union hierarchy that acts as agents of capital in our organizations. We must change this situation or die.

It is a breath of fresh air to witness the rise of trade union leaders in this period and without a doubt, this process will play out here in the US as well as the old right wing bureaucracy will be swept aside in the coming tide like rotten apples falling from the tree in the face of the slightest gale.

No one can predict when and exactly where. None of us predicted the teachers strikes in 2018-19 and this movement was not built on. The hierarchy, the Labor Notes types, DSA, and many others refused to build on that movement which started in Red States where we were told for decades  it was impossible to strike. This movement arose there because the labor bureaucracy was too weak or non existent to crush it. It was a rank and file movement from below. This is what throw up a new leadership and will transform the balance of class forces in the US.
