Profits pouring in for US weapons manufacturers

The US is the largest supplier of weapons of mass destruction on the planet.  It is the most militaristic society on the planet.  It's economy is built around it as it supplies more weapons to the world than the rest of the world's producers combined, providing about 46% of the world's weaponry.

The American interviewed in the video who is honest enough to see and not participate in what is happening in Iraq for example drew the same conclusions Pat Tillman did in Afghanistan. except. As I blogged previously, it is my personal opinion that Tillman was murdered by the CIA or one of the countless other clandestine agencies of US imperialism and empire building.

We don't have to look much further than what is spent on war and the profit made through it, including the massive expense of building 1000 bases around the world and arming, supplying and defending them to understand why the US working class is being asked to pay more in terms of wages, working conditions, public services and declining living standards in general.

US capitalism is in a state of crisis.  It's economy and its political system does not work. It is broke and in debt.  It's foreign policy is a disaster that drags it deeper and deeper in to the quagmire and along the same path as other empires before it.  What should concern us most is despite this, it has the ability to threaten  even further than it has already the future of humanity.  Half of the countries in the world today we cannot visit.  It seems they are stupid, that the insanity of their foreign policy is so obvious to see but they are driven to do what they do by the laws of the market, by the insanity of the system itself.

With the decline in its global influence amidst the rise of China we will  see increased tensions between these two along with regional wars and disputes that will have no end.

The weapons manufacturers are doing well.  Profits are rising, wars are continuing and unemployment is being kept at bay.  But we should not forget that this industry is also inflationary, especially if peace prevails or people become to tired to fight.  It's a testament to the historical bankruptcy of US capitalism that its saving grace is the blowing up of entire communities, their land, their homes and the people in them as turns its own working class in to paupers.

We are taught not to think in terms of systems except when the mouthpieces of capital explain to us why the totalitarian Soviet Union failed.  This monstrosity they called communism and we are told its demise proves communism failed.  Socialism is impossible, communism is impossible, but when it comes to capitalism, in the mass media anyway, it is individuals that fail, or "crony capitalists" or simply greedy people.

Capitalism cannot take humanity forward.  This system of production in which the means of producing, distributing, and exchanging the necessities of life is in private hands  has reached its limits, it did so some time ago.  All societies have to work to live.  And different societies have organized work differently.  Capitalism, borne out of the womb of a self sustaining feudal economy, socialized production and privatized ownership which was a tremendous advancement of the productive forces.  Socialism is simply the act of completing the process and socializing ownership.

I'll say it again, society needs new managers.
