Gaddafi losing more cities as the military moves over to the opposition.
(Reuters) - Libyans celebrated the liberation of the east of the country from the rule of Muammar Gaddafi, who has vowed to crush the revolt and on Wednesday was trying to assert his grip on the capital Tripoli, in the west. This what US president Barak Obama has to say: "It is imperative that the nations and peoples of the world speak with one voice," Obama told reporters at the White House in his first public comments on the 10-day-old revolt. "The suffering and bloodshed is outrageous,"
"A lack of organized opposition groups in Libya may make any transition difficult." say western commentators. As we have said repeatedly on this blog, there are two major conclusions we can draw from these heroic uprisings in North Africa and the Middle East. One is that that the working class will fight. In Libya, they have fought unarmed mostly. The eastern part of the country is under the control of protesters and more and more cities are coming under their control.
The other is exactly what is described in the quote above from Reuters, the lack an organized opposition. And what we mean by that is the organization of the working class in to a cohesive revolutionary force conscious of its mission. Throughout the various countries there have been the beginnings of trade Union, community and other committees to defend the interests of working class communities.
As in Tunisia, in Libya we call for the expansion of these committees, these organs of workers self governance. Youth committees, committees in the rank and file of the military, the trade Union, the neighborhoods and the election of delegates from these committees to a Constituent Assembly that can draw up a new constitution that would represent the interests of workers, and youth and all oppressed peoples.
