Chalk one up for our feathered friends

It was a pleasure to read reports that a man attending a cockfight in California was killed when one of the birds, armed with a razor sharp knife attached to its leg struck the man in the leg. It happened in Tulare County according to reports.

The man was apaprently declared dead when he arrived  at the hospital and they're not sure if it was directly through the wound or due in part to the time it took to get him to hospital.  The man was a big fan of the cockfighting "sport" as a spectator, owner and trainer of birds.

What an incredibly cruel and inhumane, not to mention cowardly, activity.  Maybe the other birds can take the hint and make a few miscues like the one that struck this guy.  Uprisings in the Middle East and North Africa and now this; the world is changing for the better. This news is as heartwarming as the bullfighter that gets gored by the bull, or the nitwits that run with them in Pamplona getting a horn up their ass after a slip.
