Us capitalism cannot employ them so it jails them.
Demand for low skilled labor is plunging in the US. On any day one in ten of those youth who did not finish high school are either in jail or juvenile detention. For African American youth the figure is one in four. The jobs are no longer there any more in the better paid unionized jobs such as auto and steel as they were in the past. The New York Times commented: "None of these guys can afford to own a home. They just do not have any money." This is the basis of the crisis in the cities and the crime and the break up of families. Well paid jobs for all are essential. But capitalism cannot provide this. It depends on millions of unemployed to weaken the working class and keep it under control. If everybody had a job we would demand better wages and conditions. This would hit profits. The Federal reserve has the responsibility to manipulate interest rates to see that enough are out of work. Capitalism is a bankrupt system. It has forfeited the right to exist. The union leaders bootlick the capitalist system. They have forfeited their right to lead. A new revolutionary socialist leadership has to be built in the working class. A new socialist society has to be constructed internationally. Sean.
