Headlines on front page of Wall Street Journal.

Today's Wall Street Journal had three headlines. They were: Financial Storm hits Gulf." They are referring here to bail outs in the oil rich gulf states. The second was "Bankruptcy Fears rise as Chrysler, GM seek Federal aid." And the third: "Job losses buffet U.S. early, compounding the downturn." Capitalism is only at the beginning of its financial crisis and coming behind that like a hurricane following storm lightning comes the crisis in the real economy, jobs, wages, conditions, housing, benefits, health care. We must prepare for the events ahead, the dangers but also the opportunities. 

The election is only days away here in the US. It seems by the polls, which cannot be trusted, that Obama is going to win. But we need to be careful. A journalist with the British Guardian was touring an ethanol plant in the South here a few days ago. The plant manager said that Obama had 666 on his body and was satan. If he got in Satan would be in the Whitehouse. With nut cases like that out there, with racists opposed to Obama because he is black we have to be prepared for shocks. If Obama was assasinated the repercussions on the streets and would be added on to the financial and economic crisis, to the political crisis of the divided republican party, to the military crisis of Iraq and Afghanistan and Pakistan; the US would be hurtled into a severe and prolonged crisis on all fronts.
