Civilian Deaths Do Not Only Occur in Ukraine.

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) verified a total of 6,557 civilian deaths during Russia's invasion of Ukraine as of November 13, 2022. Of them, 408 were children.

Meanwhile in the US/Saudi war in Yemen

At least 47 children were killed or injured in Yemen in the first two months of 2022 (UNICEF)  

At least 10,200 children were killed or maimed over the past seven years. The real number is likely to be higher (UNICEF)  

The conflict has killed more than 150,000 people, including over 14,500 civilians.

And who knows how many innocents died due to the US ' 20 year occupation of Afghanistan

 

The US wars and sanctions on Saddam Hussein, the former CIA man in Iraq, cost the lives of some 500,000 Iraqi children. Madeline Albright, Clinton’s former Secretary of State who he presented with the US Medal of Freedom and who Joe Biden claims “was always a force for goodness, grace, and decency – and for freedom”, claimed these deaths were “worth it” when asked about them by Lesley Stahl on CBS’ 60 minutes in 1996. These were more dead children than in Hiroshima Stahl said.

 

Yemen

Of course, from US imperialism’s point of view, and that’s what Albright represents, it was “worth it”. The production of oil was safely in the hands of pro-US and pro-western capital and that’s what these deaths are compared to. Lose control of this commodity or kill half a million children. It’s a no brainer for them.

 

I never saw any Iraqi flags, or bumper stickers back then. No “we are all Iraqi” posters in the windows in my community. Yemen is considered a humanitarian disaster of historical proportions and the man the CIA claims orchestrated the murder of the US/Saudi journalist Jamal Kashoggi is leading the slaughter armed by to the teeth by Washington. Obama and Trump sent him cart loads of weapons, billions of dollars worth.. The Israeli’s one of the main killers of children in that part of the world was even sent more ammo by the US as they were running short.

 

What’s happening in the Ukraine is horrible, it’s not new though. What’s is nauseating are the crocodile tears coming from Washington and Westminster, and the propaganda by the media outlets they control, the BBC, The New York Times, CNN,, Fox, CBS etc. that the western defense of Ukraine has anything to do with democratic rights, self determination or taking the moral high road.  In my opinion, Zelensky, who has made quite strong statements about what needs to be done for him to agree to an end to the conflict, is about to find out how loyal his western backers are. I could be wrong but it does appear that the US is almost to the point where the this effort needs to be wrapped up.
