This was Placerville California yesterday (July 18th) at a peaceful rally outside the Eldorado County Courthouse. Placerville is the county seat of Eldorado County in the Sierra Nevada foothills. The population is about 10,000 and more than 80% European American. It became famous during the gold rush days and has had numerous names, one of them being Hangtown due to the frequent hangings that took place during the early years when law and order was limited. The rally was in solidarity with
Black Lives Matter and against racism and racial hatred. Another issue is the
demand to remove the hangman’s noose that has been prominent site in the town
for some time as an act of solidarity with BLM.
About one hour in watch and listen
to the vicious and aggressive confrontation led by the white racists; they have no response but extreme aggression and intimidation. Their terrifying fear of change, of other cultures,
of anyone that doesn’t look, act or believe like them. These are Trump’s fans. Their
fear of losing some sort of identity, or history, a completely irrational fear,
is always manifested in racial and other forms of hatred of others. They move
very quickly to the same old epithets, calling people who are simply supporting
humanity and inclusion, “Faggots” “Bitches” “Niggers” “Communists”. Imagine the legalized violence if these people
gain any political power at all.
Congratulations to the residents of
Placerville, a small part of rural US, who are out there standing up for
inclusion and the rights of all human beings to live free from fear of violence
and racial, sexual religious and any other form of discrimination.
