Solidarity with the Sudanese and Algerian Uprisings.

Dear friends and comrades,

Thank you for signing onto the Statement of Solidarity with the Sudanese and Algerian Uprisings. We have in just over a week collected 200 signatures of organizations and individuals, including MENA solidarity activists, union organizers, socialist activists and student groups.

In Algeria and Sudan, we are witnessing uprisings with momentous victories that are remarkably similar to the early days of the Arab Spring Revolutions of 2011. Though many of the Arab Spring uprisings have now faced years of counterrevolutionary defeat, the revolutions of Algeria and Sudan are inspiring hope once again, with real reasons to be optimistic about a better outcome this time around. We are in a critical time right now where the balance of forces could go either way--to greater transformation of the political systems in favor of the millions of protestors, or to the hands of the militaries and the regional powers backing them.

In this critical time, international solidarity is of utmost importance. For this reason, we are eager to connect solidarity activists internationally, and begin to discuss next steps for solidarity efforts that can boldly project the efforts of the activists on the ground and coordinate in case of repression.

We will be hosting a conference call open to all signatories on Saturday, May 4 from 12 to 1:30 PM CST(Chicago)t [1-2:30 EST (Boston); 6 PM London Time..). The conference call will begin with updates from on the ground in Algeria and Sudan, and will be followed by a discussion of international solidarity efforts that we hope all involved can take part in. Again, all signatories are welcome on the call, and we are eager to hear your suggestions and ideas.

Below is the conference call information:
