Guantanamo Bay. $800,000 a year.

It is incredible. Education is being cut, health care is being cut, workers wages and conditions are being cut yet the US state on behalf of its corporations is able to spend $800,000 per year for each of its 171 prisoners at Guantanamo Bay. Not only is the whole set up a vicious military prison where people are being held who have no convictions but also it is a sinkhole where US tax payers money disappears.

I see that some of the OWS movement are talking about occupying bridges that need repair. This is a very positive step in the right direction and should take us on to orient the movement to occupying houses that are being fore closed on, workplaces where jobs wages and conditions are being cut and banks and and financial institutions are ripping off society. And for a program of public works with wages and conditions at union rates to rebuild society on a democratic socialist basis.
