Additional note: I was looking at the pictures in detail and what is obvious is the absence of Afro-Caribbeans or black folks in general. I wondered if this was perhaps because the March had been organized by the traditional left groups and this was due to our historical inability to connect to the working class in general and racial minorities in particular. But I didn't recognize hardly any of the organizations and they were very diverse including Kurd and Turkish organizations as well as Trade Union councils. I am assuming the crowd were probably from slightly better off working class and middle class communities which isn't a bad thing as the subject matter and the slogans show. And given the efforts by the state to isolate and condemn much of the black community for the uprising and the riotous elements of it, it might be expected. I think this development is a very positive thing to arise out of the uprising and hopefully a real effort will be made to penetrate the mist oppressed and underprivileged communities and broaden the movement.

The uprisings among the most oppressed sections of the youth in Britain have not been in vain. As is always the case when the anger of the working classes explodes in all directions due to the absence of organization and a clear way forward, political expression arises form the rubble because the youth have real issues.
