Support Prisoners at Pelican Bay State Prison Starting an Indefinite Hunger Strike Starting July 1st!
On July 1st, prisoners in the Security Housing Unit (SHU) at Pelican Bay State Prison in Crescent City, California will begin an indefinite hunger strike to protest the tortuous, inhumane and cruel conditions of their imprisonment. The hunger strike is spreading, with prisoners in the SHU at Corcoran State Prison joining the strike in solidarity with those at Pelican Bay.

***WEEKLY VIGIL IN SOLIDARITY WITH THE HUNGER STRIKERS***Beginning Thursday July 14th: Come out and stand in solidarity with prisoners hunger striking at Pelican Bay State Prison and other prisons across California. Until the strike is over, we will meet every Thursday from 5-7pm in front of the Alameda County Courthouse–1225 Fallon St., near Lake Merritt bart station and downtown Oakland.
Supporters internationally are encouraged to hold similar meetings each Thursday too. Contact prisonerhungerstrikesolidarity@gmail.com if you can coordinate a weekly Thursday meeting in a city or town near you!

Friday, July 15th 6-8 pm: Informational, Organizing & Strategizing Session on Supporting the Hunger Strike. At Southern California Library: 6120 Vermont Ave. , Los Angeles CA 90044. This meeting will be prioritizing the participation and support of family members of prisoners. Folks with loved ones and family at Pelican Bay as well as other CA prisons are encouraged to come to meet each other and share stories. We will also share information about conditions inside Pelican Bay since the strike started on July 1st.
Sat, July 16th 1:00pm: “ENCAMPMENT: SOLIDARITY WITH PELICAN BAY PRISONERS HUNGER STRIKE!” (NOT 24 HRS) note: the length of this event is still undetermined. It will probably go no later than 5pm. We would like to clarify THIS IS NOT A 24 HOUR EVENT! There is also no hunger strikers, but rather folks are encouraged to enter into a 24 hour fast all over the world, wherever you are. This encampment is a place where folks are envisioned to come in and out throughout the day to gather, express their support for hunger strikers, and connect.
