Strauss-Kahn, global banker, sexual predator, accused of rape

The head of the IMF, Dominque Strauss-Kahn is being held on investigation of rape in New York City.  Interestingly enough, the WSJ stresses that Dominique "is entitled to the presumption of innocence".  The leading mouthpiece of the US capitalist class is very big on justice and the right to a fair trial and an impartial jury, it would never support vigilante or revenge killings, chuckle chuckle.  But they are gloating a little bit as their European comrades need a bit of a lashing, especially the French.

The boards of the IMF and the World Bank are dominated by Europeans who have been too willing to bail out EU member states.  (The US didn't bail out anyone did it?)  The US is worried that the IMF board will not deal with Kahn properly if found guilty.  The IMF "deployed a double standard for Mr. Strauss-Kahn as one of their own" the Journal says referring to the warning Kahn received for earlier sexual transgressions with an IMF economist that was discovered after her husband "blew the whistle" on it.  Former IMF president, American Paul Wolfowitz, the war criminal known to so many of us, was forced out after intervening to get his girlfriend a raise, not even a violation of IMF policy, the Journal says.

The implication for French politics is pretty interesting as Kahn is the front runner for Socialist candidate for president in next year's elections.; what sort of socialist party is that?  The WSJ has him leading in the polls.  Apparently, Kahn chased the woman, pulled her in to a bedroom where she escaped but then he chased her again.  He was naked according to reports I've read.  Like many of these rich and powerful men, Strauss-Kahn  is a renowned sexual predator.

Kahn has a right to defend himself,  but one can only imagine how people like him would look at a maid in one of the fancy hotels he stays in.  A woman worker in this situation and him being who he is makes it highly unlikely she would make this up. What sort of socialist stays in a $3000 a night suite anyway.  And the world bank is a den of thieves.  They give the term socialist a bad name.
