Hilary Clinton admits the Taliban is the US's baby

As I stated in an earlier blog, would workers, had we an independent voice, have supported 7th century clerics in Afghanistan against the government of Mohammad Najibullah? I think not.  It was in Chevron's interests to support them, not ours.  Capitalists form allegiances with any force that defends, or appears to defend, profits.    In Afghanistan in was the Mullahs or a potential workers' regime, at the least a command economy, so bin Laden it was.  For more on this period and the struggle for the resources of central Asia read: War and Globalization by Michel Chossudovsky.
