Which weapon will be your state's "official" gun?

Is this right gun for your state?
The US is the world's innovator and home of many firsts.  First to to put humans on the moon. First to split the atom, first to drop nuclear bombs on civilians.  But poor old Arizona, the state whose governor is the first line of defense against the huddled masses, the roving hordes who  love El Norte's climate, culture and TV programming so much they risk life and limb trying to get in here finds itself a lowly second in one major US category.

Arizona is close to becoming the second US state to have its official state gun as 40 Arizona state legislators have signed on to a bill that would make the Colt single-action Army revolver the official state firearm. Utah has already adopted Browning’s  model M1911as its state firearm.

John Marshall at TPM asks: "What do you figure your state's official state gun would be? What does Delaware get? And whose state culture gets you just the old style sawed off shotgun? Tommy Gun"

Good question JohnThis is an important issue and we should all try to think about which gun should be our state gun.  I have a Ruger 357 Magnum and that might be right for California given Clint Eastwood popularizing the Magnums.  Plus, it would counter that sissy state flower we have, the poppy. I wouldn't think a Beretta Sig Sauer or Glock wouldn't be right for any state though, what with them being  foreigners and all.  Texas could have the 44 Magnum given the manliness of it's famous ex president.

We would open up a can of worms in NYC as the UZI might win the vote there, not because there are quite a few people of the Jewish faith in NYC.  Jews are not particularly pro gun but AIPAC, would lobby hard.

Anyway, this is an important issue that we should all think hard about if we love the state we live in even if we're in a F%#@ked up state.

Damn its great to be free.

There are not many times when I am afraid to be raising my children so close to the U.S. but this is indeed a time when I am.

What the holy hell is wrong with some of you?

Well, there's plenty of Americans that think it's piss poor too Andrew. But the country puts quite a strain on immigrants that come here, it is very fast, its a violent culture and money is everything with very limited social services. But I do believe that the US working class, as it has in the past, will make its mark on the world again; the place is going to explode at some point.

I did write "some of you" - certainly not a comment meant for all...

It's comforting to know that there is a large population that sees it as insane as I do. It's of little consolation though as it's the rest of you have all the guns :)

Immigrants get the short end of the stick in both Canada and the U.S. My neighbour has 2 masters degrees from India and works at a coffee shop!
