But this blog does more. It points a finger. It draws a lesson. This blog argues that capitalism does not work. That it is a catastrophe for the human species and life on earth. This analysis of ours is underlined by the most recent catastrophe in Japan. There must be no hesitancy in saying so. This catastrophe is the result of the profit addicted capitalist system. It was this profit addiction that led to nuclear power plants being built and not only in Japan but world wide, that led to them being built in earthquake prone areas and by the ocean, and that has led to cover ups when there were dangerous developments in these plants.
The owners of the main plant in Japan is Tokyo Electric Power Company, (TEPC) a for profit capitalist company. People interviewed have said they do not believe what they are told by this company or by the government. This is natural. There is a record of cover ups by the management of this company in the past. The chairman and four executives resigned in 2006 over falsification of evidence and again there was falsification of evidence in 2006 and 2007. This is a profit addicted company that will do anything it can get away with for its profits. And the government of Japan is dominated by such profit addicted corporations and do their bidding.
We repeat what we said before. Decisions were made which led to these nuclear plants being built and where they would be located. These decisions were made by the capitalist class within the context of their profit addicted capitalist system. Capitalism is responsible. this is a capitalist catastrophe. There is only one way the planet and the human species can be saved, by ending capitalism and by establishing a democratic socialist society.
