Wikileaks: Israel and Chile spying on Iranian embassy.

Wikileaks has released information from diplomatic cables that the Chilean government collaborated with Israel to spy on the Iranian embassy in Chile.  As expected, the Israeli's informed their US patrons about the activity and that the two countries were concerned about Venezuela's ties with the Iranian regime according to Haaretz, the Israeli newspaper.

The Israeli representative was working with "Chile's Investigative Police (PDI ) and 'other agencies' (presumably Chile's Intelligence Agency, ANI ), sharing information, and providing training when possible." says Haaretz. Israel is intent on strengthening its ties with Latin America "to help balance Iran's expanding influence in the region" the cables said.

I have to wonder about the obsession with Iran. I am no fan of the Iranian regime that is a misogynistic religious dictatorship that opposes all democratic and trade Union rights, and I hope the same fate befalls the Mullah's as that which felled Mubarak, but I don't have this fear of Iran. Apparently, the Israelis are concerned that there are Iranians in Latin America, including 50 persons in Columbia with Iranian passports.  This comes from a state that kidnaps people in other countries and assassinates opponents in other countries with assassins holding stolen passports.  It also keeps over one million people hostage in Gaza, the largest concentration camp on earth.

I am still waiting for the Wikileaks releases of information on the banks, particularly Bank of America.
