Today I seem to be on about freaks. First Gaddafi now Sons of the Confederacy.
Yes I seem to somehow be hung up on the idea of freaks today. First Gaddafi. And now there are the so called Sons of the Confederacy here in the US. A crowd of about 150 gathered in Montgomery, Alabama, yesterday to celebrate the declaration of the South to break away from the North and keep their slave system intact. These freaks dressed up in period costumes and fired muskets and earnestly explained the South did not break away because of slavery, it was just a question of independence and states' rights. Slavery it was explained was just a "mere function of the time," or a "4,000 year old African institution that affected the US a couple of hundred years ago." It is so frustrating when it is so hard to get these freaks to stand up for what they believed (believe?) in. They avoid the issue of slavery like the plague and seek to portray the poor little South as the victim of the Northern bully. No mention of the horrific crime of slavery against black people.
