Iran regime excludes US from nuclear inspections: Why would it include them?

Now I’m no fan of the Mullahs in Iran. Iran is a theocracy that opposes worker’s rights and in particular the rights of women. They carry out policies the pope of Rome would carry out were he able.

Neither the Mullahs nor the thugs in the US Congress are friends of working class people. These two forces would willingly unite against a united US and Iranian working class if their interests were threatened, which they would be if such a development arose which is why we should work toward that end. The ongoing portrayal of Iran as the greatest threat to world peace is actually a part of US capitalism’s strategy of ensuring the allegiance of its own working class. International solidarity between workers is made more difficult when national fervor reaches fever pitch thinking that all foreigners are out to destroy us.

The truth is that Iran has invaded no one in thousands of years and is not the threat that the US, its proxy Israel, and the Saudi monarchy are to stability in the region.

The Wall Street Journal reports today that Iran has offered several European countries, Russia, China, and some Arab regimes, an opportunity to tour some of its nuclear facilities, but it has excluded the US.

Washington is appalled. “A tour for some countries is not a substitute for sustained and transparent cooperation” says P.J Crowley, a US State Department spokesperson. He goes on to point out that Iran continues to be in “violation of its international obligations” and that the “ International community won’t be distracted by this ploy.”

The “International community” is that group of countries and/or leaders that can be bribed, cajoled or threatened by the US to support its position on issues. How can we fault workers in other countries, especially in the former colonial possessions of the Middle East, from supporting Iran? These workers see the hypocrisy in the US position. Israel has ignored more than 65 UN resolutions. The US supports this.  The US government told everyone else that objected, to go F*&%k themselves when they invaded Iraq destabilizing the entire region, causing untold death and creating refugee problems in neighboring countries like Syria.

As far as anything nuclear is concerned, “Israel has never complied with IAEA regulations, never allowed any inspections and never told anyone what their nuclear program is. While it is well known that they have developed the dreaded bomb, nothing is officially known about how many bombs they have and the destructive capacity of their program.” The US government never says anything about this. The US government never demands the most nuclear-armed regime in the area allow inspections of its facilities, just the opposite, it defends its secrecy.

And it’s perfectly rational that any Iranian government would want to exclude the US from its nuclear sites, for two important reasons. Any fool is acutely aware that the Israeli military and the US military go hand in glove. The Israel lobby has an extraordinary influence in the policies of the US government both at home and domestically. Ask any politician that includes cutting aid to Israel in her election campaign program?  Why would Iran allow Israel access to such information?

And the US overthrew the secular democratic government of Iran in 1953. Its interference in the region, and the British before it, is well known by the victims of this interference. After this coup the US installed the murderous Shah on the throne who banned all opposition and tortured those who were caught. The root cause of the rise of the Mullahs is the role of British and US imperialism in the region. Iraq was encouraged by the US to go to war with Iran and the lucky US arms industry made a killing supplying both sides.

American workers have to face the fact that the people negotiating with and showing an American face to the rest of the world are not acting in our interest and in fact are fostering hatred and hostility towards us. This suits their purposes as they are the same people that are taking away our homes, jobs and living standards at home. But it doesn't do us any good.

More than 1.5 million Americans filed for bankruptcy last year; he Mullahs of Iran are the least of our problems.
