US trade unionists speak out against FBI repression of anti war activists.

In a very important development and a sign of the sentiment developing against the US capitalist wars in Iraq and Afghanistan the following motion was passed by the October 17th general membership meeting of the 14,000 member Teamsters Local 705 in Chicago. We urge all union members to get similar resolutions passed in their locals and unions and workplaces.

Whereas: On September 24th the FBI raided the homes and offices of Trade Unionists and Activists in Minneapolis and Chicago confiscating crates full of computers, books, documents, cell phones, photos of Martin Luther King and even their children's items.
Whereas: Specifically among those targeted are Teamster brother Mick Kelly from Minneapolis Local 320, as well as brother Joe Isobaker, Chief Union Steward in SEIU Local 73, who has walked our Ambulatory Picket Lines for the Pain Ice Strike at UIC.
I move to make a motion to condemn the FBI raids, And furthermore 1. The FBI stop all further repression of Trade Unionists and Activists, 2. They return all confiscated materials, and 3. Stop the grand jury proceedings.
Brother Joe Balkis made the motion.
Brother Dave Bernt seconded the motion.
It passed overwhelmingly by the membership.
