Yesterday we posted an appeal for action on a Widow with cancer being evicted by Stanford University.

Today:
- Over a dozen people confirmed they called Stanford to complain. Many more we don’t know about probably called.
- Channel 2 at Noon carried an item on it (see http://www.ktvu.com/news/23937566/detail.html)
- Several people put it up as their FB status update –including one young woman who we recently won a small direct action case for
- Angie went to court and will be on Trial on Friday, tomorrow, more bad publicity for Stanford.
LIE OF THE DAY: Angie has not paid rent to Stanford in over a year.
FACT OF THE DAY: Stanford has refused to accept her rent checks in over a year.
On Thursday, Channel 7, who were going to run a lead item on the case, pulled the story, probably under pressure from Stanford.
Thank you from the Campaign for Renters Rights to everyone that called Stanford today. I personally heard back from about a dozen people that called and tied up their phones.
I spoke to a number of staff at Stanford after I got off work. One guy was a bit shocked that I got his cell number and told me that we were not hearing the full truth. I asked if Mrs. Cicero does not have cancer, are people lying about that? He said No. Every person I spoke to I tried to keep on the phone as a long as possible.
If the rich and powerful can do this to Angie, they will do it to us all.

Oh don't be ridiculous.
FACT: She hasn't paid any rent in =3= years. To her original landlord, who died, and specified the place be sold and the proceeds donated to Stanford.
Fact: Stanford is not her damn landlord. They don't own the place, they're just owed the proceeds from the place. Hell, if this place were to be sold and the proceeds used to pay child support, would she try to pay rent to the 8-year old being owed?
