While the economy is going under there still hope in finding jobs............in China Lake CA, where the Naval Air Weapons Division is based. The "Boomtown" as said in the LA Times 7-22-09, is to add 1,000 jobs to an already 4,300 civilian workers. Contractors from anywhere and everywhere are looking to take these jobs to build 3 hospitals, hotels and schools. China Lake's unemployment rate is at 11.6% compared to their sorrounding Kern County at 14.7%
There seems to be money for war, yet the California State University system is getting budget cuts, which by the way the Chancellor of the CSU (Charles Reed) has passed 20% in fee hikes on Tuesday 7-21-09 for undergrads, totalling up to $4,026 for students to attend CSU (according to LA Times 7-22-09). Plus, Healthcare for poverty striken families will be cut, walfare programs are going to be hit, parks "dodged a bullet" for this year and the prison system maybe changed, all in the name of closing the $26 billion gap in California.
Still reading the Times makes one see that there are conflicting stories. That war is continuing with our money, banks are foreclosing our homes with our money and when we need our basic services, capitalist are quick to say, there's no money!
Organize to fight against the budget cuts!
