capitalism is a rotten system.

It is estimated that $5 billion can save 6 million childrens lives every year. They have just given $840 billion to the rich in the bail out. Capitalism stands condemned as a system. It cannot save the children but it can bail out the rich.

Here in Chicago there are thousands of families facing eviction. Labors Militant Voice and Facts For Working People which runs this blog are issuing the following joint appeal.

To all community groups. union locals and bodies, left groups and activists, we appeal to you to come together to oppose all evictions.

This to be done through mass direct action. That is mobilizing around peoples home who are threatened and preventing their eviction. Mobilizing at the businesses and homes of all those companies and individuals who are making the decisions to have people evicted and boycott these companies and individuals. Mobilize at the City Council and at the homes and offices of the state representatives and City representatives to demand these people enact a halt to all evictions.

To facilitate and organize this process set up "Stay in Our Homes" committees in every neighborhood. These bodies with a base in every street and in every workplace would organize the direct action that would halt the evictions. Unite these committees in a city wide network that would not only oppose evictions but which would take up all the issues now affecting working class people as the capitalist system spirals downward into deeper and deeper crisis.
