Two headlines on the same day. The Zionist have gone completely mad and their madness is being fed by their equally mad partners in the US Congress, Biden and Harris at the head of it. Trump is also mad but he’s not so much a committed bourgeois in the way the old school are. He’s dangerous, opportunistic a serial sexual predator; but a maverick. Who knows what he might do if he can get away with it; or what he won’t do faced with opposition.
Kamala Harris is the Democratic Party’s top contender for President in November. She says she will not be silent on Gaza. Very nice of her.
But she’s still the Vice President of the US. She doesn’t have to be silent now. Has she opposed Biden’s latest $25 billion tranche of weapons for the Zionists? She should do so now and call for an end to spending the US taxpayer’s money feeding the Apartheid monster and its genocidal war on Palestinians.
Anyone who has followed her opportunistic climb to the top knows better but even if she has some conscience and a little sympathy with the victims of the Israeli/US genocide in Palestine, she will not stop it.
Why is that? Well, she is a bourgeois politician in one of the world’s dominant capitalist political parties and is its choice for president of the most powerful capitalist economy in the world. She has a lot at stake here from her class viewpoint.
If she wins, she will be the first black woman president of the US, the first Asian woman president, and of course, the first woman. If she was disabled in some way, a cleft palate for example, she’d cinch it. She could come out as non-binary, that would be seen as an act of courage for the liberals. A victory for her would be an historical one of major proportions. And remember, she is driven, but not driven like Malcolm X, Che Guevara, Martin Luther King or others are driven. They were dedicated, as so many revolutionary socialists like Rosa Luxemburg or national liberation heroes in the colonial world have been, Patrice Lumumba for example, to changing the system, a system based on exploitation and profit to one based on need and cooperation between peoples.
Kamala Harris is a committed politician of the ruling class, a consummate bourgeois like Obama, Clinton, Bush, all of them.
And here at home the mood has shifted as people are excited and some many relieved that the sexual predator and snake oil salesman will be beaten back in the electoral arena, and by a woman to boot; what a humiliation. At least we get a break for four years.
While some will engage in politics that can lead to serious changes and defeat for the two parties of capital that have dominated US political life for over a century, other will sit back until the next time. When I think of those people I think of how selfish that is as workers around the world are being savaged by the global capitalists with the US leading the charge no matter which party is in power and they want four years of relative calm, assuming you have a job, a house and health insurance that pays for something. The World Series won’t be interrupted or the Superbowl or the little league.
I am nauseated having to listen to Harris and other US and western politicians refer to the Hamas leadership as animals, and vicious terrorists and are complimentary when the Zionists claim they have eliminated 17,000 of them. Remember the IDF has tanks and planes, the Palestinian resistance not.
But, like them or not, agree with them or not, the leaders of Hamas have fought and died with their people. Have died waging a liberation struggle against a vicious occupying force armed to the teeth. The man replacing Ismail Haniyeh as head of Hamas knows he will likely die as well. Haniyeh was murdered by a missile as he was attendingan event in Tehran. He was tracked through his mobile phone. The Zionists, with US help, murdered his son, his grandchildren and by some accounts 90 members of his family.
The last five US presidents, Clinton, Bush Obama, Trump and Biden managed to avoid staring down the barrel of an enemies gun or the risk of being targeted by a missile. There is no comparing the dedication or respect demanded by those who die fighting for their people and their culture. Like the Zionist Israeli’s fleeing Israel not used to facing a serious threat to their lives in the past. The US ruling elite would abandon the US in a moment if their lifestyles and positions were threatened. They praise the US revolutionary force that defeated the British colonial power but are nothing like them. Their praise is nothing but a propaganda ploy.
