WorkWeek interviews retired UAW Local 909 General Motors President and
Bargaining Chair Frank Hammer about the upcoming contract at the auto
companies which expires on September 14, 2019. At the same time the
entire union leadership of the UAW is under investigation and possible
imprisonment for corruption and using the joint labor management
training program funds to personally pay for house payments, luxuries
and vacations.
He discusses the effect of two tiers and permanent
temporary workers in auto plants imposed on workers by a union
leadership that is pushing labor management partnerships and collusion.
He also talks about the need for international action uniting all GM workers.
