Priest's Tweet Show the Origins of MAGA Hatters Racism

 1-21-19 7am pst
As the author of this post I published yesterday I include the following. It appears that on further investigation there are other aspects to this event at the march and I am not alone in learning that. While I am quite prepared to discuss other issues relating to the details of what happened and correct mistakes, it is equally important not allow that to detract from what is not in dispute.  These young guys from the private school were there to oppose a woman's right to choose and all that entails. They are supporters, or many of them are, of the racist and sexual predator Trump and openly displayed that by wearing their Trump MAGA hats. The headmaster of their school has apologized according to reports in the press this morning. Then there is the issue of this vile misogynistic tweet from this priest who is a prominent figure in their community in Kentucky and whose account has apparently been closed.  This we know. They are serious issues and they are not issues that should be ignored.

A MESSAGE FROM THE DIOCESE OF COVINGTON AND COVINGTON CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL

We condemn the actions of the Covington Catholic High School students towards Nathan Phillips specifically, and Native Americans in general, Jan. 18, after the March for Life, in Washington, D.C. We extend our deepest apologies to Mr. Phillips. This behavior is opposed to the Church’s teachings on the dignity and respect of the human person.

The matter is being investigated and we will take appropriate action, up to and including expulsion.
We know this incident also has tainted the entire witness of the March for Life and express our most sincere apologies to all those who attended the March and all those who support the pro-life movement.

The message above is on the website of Covington Catholic High School that is apparently the fine institution that is home to some or all of the young men wearing MAGA hats that harassed and tormented the Native Americans in Washington DC. It appears these males were in DC as anti-abortionists and took the opportunity to terrorize a Native American veteran and mock Native American culture.

This doesn't surprise this author for many reasons. This a fancy school so they are mostly likely from middle class backgrounds and have been taught, as these people are from birth, that they are superior beings, born to lead. That's why they can attend such a fine institution. They are middle or upper middle class, white and male; you can't get a better start in life than that.

The Catholic Church is the dominant religion of capitalism today. It is the only religion with its own state and therefore has diplomatic relations in every country it has a presence.  It is also rife with corruption, racism and misogyny.

To say that such disgusting behavior, both racist, and that they were there to deny women the right to control their own bodies, sexist, originates in the family is wrong. Where does the family learn it? We are not born racists, homophobic, misogynists, or xenophobes. We are taught it by institutions in society.  It is through these institutions that the ruling class controls, the media and the institutions of learning that these ideologies originate.

The author of this sexist tweet, Fr.  Philip W. De Vous is a staff member and pastor at St. Joseph Parish Church in Crescent Springs Kentucky. He was public policy manager of the Acton Institute whose mission it is to  "...promote a free and virtuous society characterized by individual liberty and sustained by religious principles."

The distance between Covington High School, the fancy Catholic school where those nasty arrogant young petit bourgeois learn their trade, and St Joseph's school is a mere 4 miles, an 11 minute Journey. It's not hard to figure out where these characters get their thinking from as the not so (female) friendly Phil DeVous reflects the real attitude the Catholic church has toward women. And I don't care how many pictures of Martin Luther King they may hang on their walls, I am not saying all Catholics are racists, but this global institution is.

It's easy as a friend of mine on FB said, to see the root cause of this nastiness. It's interesting that Covington sent some of its young nasties up to Washington to protest against a women's right to choose but I'll bet they never even considered sending any to protest the killing of Michael Brown in Ferguson, the St. Louis suburb. They must have had such a good time discovering not only could they harass women but some Native Americans whose stolen land they live on and on which their schools and churches are built.
