Prisons in the US. |
Sean O'Torain.
An Alabama prison is on lock down. The US has 5% of the worlds population and 25% of the world's prisoners. No other country comes anywhere close. This is because of the mass poverty in the US, practically no social services especially for young males, the extreme repression of the state and of course the huge profits to be made by the prison industrial complex. Along with that capitalism is totally opposed to full employment. Full employment would strengthen the working class. If we all had jobs we could all fight harder for more wages. we would not be so afraid of losing our jobs when we would be fighting. This would hit profits. So capitalism manipulates the interest rates to keep unemployment in the millions, to keep the reserve army of the unemployed in the millions and to weaken the working class and increase profits. This is economic terrorism. There is no way the present increased struggles in the streets in the US will not be accompanied by increased struggles in the giant prison complex. The events in Chicago last night will be discussed in the country's prisons. Out of the struggles in the US prisons will come some of the most powerful and courageous of revolutionaries.
