Military in US aims propaganda at US population.

Rumsfeld with old friend Saddam
We have always said on this blog that the US is one of the most censored societies in the world. An article in the New York Times December 25 th confirms this. It also shows that censorship is not just keeping things out of the news and away from public knowledge but getting people to believe things that are in the interest of the ruling class, the 1%.

The 1% wanted to invade Iraq and Afghanistan to secure its oil and gas wealth and strengthen the base of the US in central Asia and further encircle China and Russia. 9/11 was a wind fall for them. What the article in the NYT shows is how they, the 1%, systematically organized their propaganda to convince the US population of the need to go to war.

The article says: "the Pentagon under Ronald, H. Rumsfeld, made a concerted effort, starting in 2002 to reach out to network military analysts to build and sustain public support for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan." Rumsfeld's pentagon organized 147 events for 74 military analysts. These included 22 meetings at the pentagon, 114 conference calls with generals and senior pentagon officials and 11 pentagon organized trips to Iraq and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

Rumsfelds staff frequently provided military analysts with talking points before their network appearances. One military analyst said the purpose was to "move everyone's mouth on TV as a sock puppet." Four military analysts reported they were ejected from attending these events as Rumsfeld thought they were "critical" of the pentagon. General Clarke was told that the Whitehouse had asked CNN to stop using him as a commentator as he was "not trusted by the pentagon.

The inspector general's office was asked to do a study of this program. It scrutinized 25,000 pages of documents but "except for one "unsigned, undated draft memorandum" investigators could not find any documents that described the strategy or objective of the program. This report also found that 43 of the military analysts on the Rumsfeld approved list were affiliated to so called defense contractors, that is the for profit money mad military industrial complex.

So let us put it in simpler terms. The US ruling class, the 1%, wanted to go to war in Iraq and Afghanistan, they used 9/11 as an excuse, then they used generals and ex military types to go on the mass media, TV, print media, talk media and explain why this was necessary and to make sure they were all singing of the same hymn sheet the pentagon organized gatherings where they were all given the line, even bullet points to read from. Next time you hear some talking head general, some so called analyst on TV, remember where they come from. Straight from getting the line from the pentagon. Analysts they are not. Propagandists for the 1% is what they are.
