Capitalism has forfeited the right to exist.
We have argued on this blog that capitalism has forfeited the right to exist. The evidence for this is in the serious capitalist press every day. In today's Wall Street Journal there is an article about nuclear plants. It speaks about the affect of the nuclear catastrophe in Japan. What has been the result of this. You would never guess. It is unbelievable. Due to the reaction against nuclear power the lives of the existing nuclear plants are being extended. That is old plants coming to the end of their lives are being allowed to stay open longer. In the US two thirds of the country's 104 nuclear plants have had their original 40 year licenses extended by 20 years. So called regulators are looking to see if the life of reactors could be pushed up to 80 years. The older the plants the more corrosion of pipes and leaking of nuclear materials and the danger of explosions. Just like the older we drive our cars the more likely something will go wrong. Think about this other chilling fact. The US Nuclear Regulatory Commission, so called, has never turned down a utility that asked to extend the life of a nuclear reactor, thus approving 71 such requests. The danger to life and limb in the US comes much more from its own corporations and the governments and parties bought and paid for by these governments than any group such as the various terror groups. It is the people who run the profit addicted corporations and their political puppets who should be rounded up subjected to extreme interrogation methods and put away. they are the main threat to the US population and society. A democratic working class movement can do this.
