Super rich and the trade union and labor leaders.

US billionaire Warren Buffett recently called for more taxation of the super rich like himself. Now in France 16 of that country's super rich have issued a similar call. These people are led by Liliane Bettancourt, France's richest woman and heir to the L'Oreal cosmetic empire. This person is estimated to have wealth totalling 15 billion euros or over $20billion. These people are making this call because they are afraid of the rising anger against them and their system as shown by events such as the recent uprisings in Britain. They are not unaware of history and what happened in the French revolution. When the starving poor were told to eat cake when they could not afford bread they cut of the heads of the rich. These people fear the rising revolutionary tensions world wide. But it is another angle of this story I want to ask our readers to consider.

Here we have the super rich calling for an increase on taxes on themselves. But when have we heard the the union leaders and the labor leaders make such a call? More importantly where are the union and labor leaders building a mass direct action movement to bring about such a change? There is no such lead from these people. What we have to say is that the super rich are to the left of the tops of the union and labor leaders on this issue. We do not agree with the union and labor leaders position of kowtowing to the capitalist offensive. Things are only going to get worse for working people until we build a mass direct action movement and mass independent working class organizations to take on and throw back the capitalist offensive. The union and labor leaders have forfeited their right to lead the workers movement. They only way they can regain this right is by taking on the rich and their corrupt capitalist system. To do this they will have to get off their knees and show some sign s that they are prepared to move to the left of the super rich.
