al Qaeda is dying but US capitalism will revive it.

Had to use this again.  Who's threatening whom?
Well it didn't take long. A couple months ago, Navy SEAL Admiral Eric Olson, announced that the assassination of Bin Laden was a "near fatal blow for the organization" the San Francisco Chronicle reports today.  And on Wednesday, the top US commander for special operations forces said that al Qaeda is bloodied and "nearing its end."  One commentator said not so long ago that they were only 100 or so al Qaeda operatives in Afghanistan being chased by 150,000 US troops.

We can't have that now can we?  What would we do with all that defense money and workers in the US might start thinking about politics and the crooks in Washington and the Pentagon if al Qaeda wasn't a threat.

No worries, the CIA and the Obama administration to the rescue.

One day after the head of special ops announces al Qaeda is a dying ember, the Obama administration accuses Iran of entering in to a "secret deal" with an al Qaeda "offshoot." .  Those damned offshoots. Whats more, this offshoot is providing "money and recruits" for attacks in Afghanistan and Pakistan, that means on NATO, read US forces.

David Cohen, the US treasury dept's. "point man for terrorism and financial intelligence" says that Iran is allowing an al Qaeda "offshoot" to "funnel money and operatives through its territory".  I'm sure Mr. Cohen is a very fair and balanced judge of Iranian affairs although as is the usual case, he hasn't provided any "details" of the relationship between Iran and this "offshoot".

No worries, they'll find proof when they need it just like they did in IraqColin Powell swore up and down that there were weapons of mass destruction all over Iraq when he was sent to get the European's support for an invasion.  Providing fake evidence of huge missiles and hardware was harder than kidnapping a couple of Muslims and announcing to the world that members of an al Qaeda offshoot "are now in our possession." though.

The US corporate media afraid of losing its oil interests in the Middle East, repeats the accusation day in day out that Iran is building nuclear weapons, something that is not popular with Washington because invading countries that possess them is a bit dodgy. It's no accident US capitalism invaded Iraq and not North Korea as one of the three "axis of evil" members.  Iran of course has not invaded anyone in heavens knows how long and the present regime there is a direct result of US and  British meddling in the region.  The Mullah's are a bad bunch but it is hard to argue agaunst a nation having the right to nuclear weapons in that region when the US arms to the teeth Israel and Saudi Arabia and bombs nations that don't subscribe to its economic agenda.

"Iran is the leading state sponsor of terrorism in the world today" says Cohen, "We are illuminating yet another aspect of Iran's unmatched support for terrorism."

This attempt at illuminating is made for the US audience as it will not shed much light on the truth for the vast majority of the world's working class population who do not fear Iran but the Pentagon.  Workers here in the US need to ensure our memories are not clouded by this propaganda and remember what led up to the Iraq war, and the lies that abounded after 911, not to mention the lies that were told to the Tillman family about their son's death/assassination in Afghanistan.  US capitalism is supporting the most ruthless regimes in the Middle East and hypocritical ramblings about terrorism, justice and freedom from the its mouthpieces like Cohen have no credibility in the region.

There are many forces that are opposed to the US occupation of their lands and many of them will be seeking to harm US troops, most of whom are our youth that US capitalism refuses to provide meaningful work and a decent life for. The best thing we can do is bring our troops home and fight on the domestic front for jobs, housing, education, health care, all the necessities the likes of Cohen and the other Washington/Pentagon crowd are taking from us. We have more to fear from the economic terrorism the US capitalist class is waging against us than we do this al Qaeda "offshoot" if it exists at all.

And as far as Iran being the "unmatched" perpetrators of terrorism perhaps Cohen has never heard of the school of the America's.  An age old and reputable terrorist training center right under our very noses.
