More pilots are turning against Gaddafi from reports in the media. The EU is is calling on the UN investigation in to what it calls, "extremely grave human rights violations committed in Libya, including extrajudicial killings, arbitrary arrests, detention and torture of peaceful demonstrators," There is even talk of "crimes against humanity". and sanctions are on the table. The situation is becoming so grave that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Iranian president whose security forces crushed protests against his 2009 re-election, has also condemned Libya.
We would hope that Bush, Blair, Kissinger Powell, Rumsfeld and others are included in such trials. They obviously won't be as the only reason the leaders of the EU or the UN or the US would threaten such action is due to the pressure from the uprising and the recognition that they might be dealing with a new Libyan regime here pretty soon.
The siege of Gaza and the racist Zionist regime's treatment of Palestinians is also a crime against humanity. The fact is that capitalism is a crime against humanity and nature. It is the capitalism that workers need to put on trial; the UN won't do that as it is a capitalist club. The BBC reports that the Libyan army is a relatively weak force unlike Egypt and that the forces propping Gaddafi up at this moment (as opposed to his western bourgeois allies) are"murky network of paramilitary brigades, "revolutionary committees" of trusted followers, tribal leaders and imported foreign mercenaries."
As the regime weakens and loses ground, underground prisons where prisoners have not seen the light of days for years are being discovered.
Some tweets from the Libyan Youth Movement:
- 1654: Libyan Youth Movement tweets: "under ground prisons being discovered in Benghazi, political prisoners being found alive, not seen light of day for years#Libya"
Recently people trapped in a mine for months went through a horrific experience, now we find people under for years never 2 come out #Libya
