Bahrain. US allies and ruling thugs forced to take a step back.

The US government's backed thugs who rule Bahrain have been forced to pull their military off the streets. Their cops are still trying to keep control. Nevertheless this is big a step forward. It is a very important victory for the heroic people who took to the streets in the past days. All support and congratulations to these heroic people.

The military in this tiny state, which is a close ally and stooge of the US has many of the elements of a mercenary force. Many of them are imported from other countries. Bahrain is a central state in the US war plans for the country. It is the base for the US 5th fleet. It is seen as central to curbing the forces of Iran in the area. And of course it is seen as being central also to keeping their surrounding states stable and under US control. This applies in particular to Saudi Arabia.

There has never been such a movement as has been sweeping the Middle East and North Africa in the last weeks. There is also the movement in Madison Wisconsin and there has been the big movement of women in the past few days against Berlusconi and the way women are treated in general. We repeat again here.
