Iraqi mother comforting her wounded son. Injured by US forces sent to invade Iraq on the basis of lies and secrets about Hussein's so called weapons of mass destruction. Lies and secret documents, secret capitalist diplomacy, this was how they justified the invasion, war and slaughter. Wikileaks has done a service to working class people all over the world by exposing capitalism's internal documents and secrets. Wikileaks must be defended. "Build a Hands Off Wikileaks" campaign immediately.

The war against wikileaks goes on. From capitalism's point of view it has to be crushed. It is in the process of being kicked off the Internet. Its finances are being attacked. All activists and all who want to keep the Internet as widely accessible as possible for that matter must take a stand. A campaign for "Hands of Wikileaks, must be launched immediately. Part of this has to be an end of the pursuit of Assange and also the release from prison and the dropping of all charges against the young soldier who is supposed to have given the documents to wikileaks.

For those of us who are against capitalism this is a major opportunity to inflict a further blow on this system. It is vital for capitalism that its inner workings are kept secret. Or at least that it can select what it wants to keep secret. In the last decade documents in the US that are classified has gone up ten times. As US capitalism faces a more complex world in a weaker position it needs even more secrecy. This is the background to the wikileaks situation. We must do all we can to prevent capitalism achieving its goal of even greater secrecy, we must do all we can to make this defeat it has suffered with the leaks go even deeper and be more long lasting.

Working class people worldwide need access to more information not less. The capitalist media are screaming about the wikileaks information threatening lives. This is just scare mongering lies. It is in fact the exact opposite. The provocation of the Gulf of Tonkin in the early 1960's was kept secret and used by US capitalism to go to war in Viet Nam. It this had been known and acted on, the three million dead in the Viet Nam war could have been avoided. History shows that instead of more access to information leading to more deaths and suffering it is in fact the opposite.

Look at another and more recent example. We were told repeatedly by the capitalist media, not by wikileaks or Assange we should note, that Hussein had so called weapons of mass destruction when in fact he did not. This was the excuse US capitalism used to go to war and invade the country. If it had been common knowledge that Hussein did not have weapons of mass destruction and this had been acted on the slaughter in Iraq and the entire region could have been avoided. The secrecy about weapons of mass destruction in fact led to hundreds of thousands dead.

The bottom line is not hard to grasp. You cannot believe a word the capitalist's lying media, political and academic machines tell us. It is best to have all the information we can get and make up our own minds. Assange and wikileaks and the young soldier who made this information available have made a real contribution to working class consciousness and struggle. They must not be abandoned. Build the "Hands Off Wikileaks" campaign in your workplace, union, neighborhood, school and college.
