US capitalism: It has a hard neck on it.

There is a saying at home that some people have a hard neck on them. This is to say that they will condemn anything even if they are doing the exact same thing themselves. US capitalism is like that. It has a hard neck on it. Another less polite way of saying this is that somebody has a neck like a jockey's a.... Now this hard neck applies to all wings of US capitalism, the hard right, the liberals, the lot.

The so called liberal New York Times had an article today about the relationship between the US and China. The author explained how US capitalism was not happy with this relationship. The author explained how US capitalism saw the Chinese elite as "narrow minded, self interested, truculent, hyper nationalist." Hhmmmmm. Yes. Now US capitalism of course is none of these. Such a thing is unthinkable.

Narrow minded? Never. I mean how could anybody say such a thing. US capitalism only believes it is the best country in the world, in fact the only decent country in the world, and not only that but it believes it is destined to show every other country how to act. It even invades other countries, at the moment Iraq and Afghanistan, to make sure they get the message. And it has military bases and forces in close to 200 areas of the world to drive home this message. Narrow minded, no way! This is unbelievable.

Self interested? US capitalism. Never. How could such a thing even be contemplated? US capitalism only acts on the basis of the most selfless reasons. It does not think of looting other countries for profits. Its policies towards Haiti are totally selfless for example. It never thought when it invaded Iraq and Afghanistan it was shoring up its power in the Middle East, increasing its bases and power in Central Asia and strengthening a military ring around China and Russia. No not for a minute!

Truculent? This is one of the most preposterous ideas of all. All you have to do is think about the happy smiling face of Cheyney to see how ridiculous an accusation this would be. And of course you could add on the happy faces of the military industrial complex elite and the charming smiles of the unelected undemocratic supreme court and the tops of the undemocratic Congress. Not an iota of truculence amongst them all. It is a terrible thought to allow to alight in your mind for even a second. Please cast it out immediately.

Hyper Nationalist. This is perhaps the most unthinkable most unfair accusation of all. Hyper nationalist? Not in a million years. The American flag, the swearing to the constitution, the singing the national anthem, the God bless America, (nobody else) and back again to the military invasions and occupations round the world. And at the United Nations any resolution that is not totally to its liking or the liking of its close allies such as Israel it vetoes. Hyper nationalist. This is terrible. How could anybody say this about US capitalism. It is a scandal.

The tea baggers might be right you just cannot trust the media.
