Capitalist propaganda and lies. They have no shame.

Americans demonstrating for food at the White House.

I see they are at it again. Yaking on about the so called "culture of poverty." One in seven Americans live in poverty. That is 44 million people. The real figure is higher. This is greater than the population of many countries. So US capitalism has to role out its mouth pieces in the universities and media to explain that this is not caused by the system, that is by capitalism. This would be too dangerous for them. It might radicalize people. Already in one poll in America 36% said they favored socialism.

So what are these paid liars and "thinkers" of capitalism coming up with to explain this increase in poverty. They cannot even get an original excuse. They are back again to going over their old dirt, to the old discredited idea of the "culture of poverty." This was raised first in the Johnson administration over 40 years ago. The idea is that people develop a way of looking at things that make it inevitable that they are poor. How come that this way of looking at things never develops amongst the millionaires and billionaires? Hmmmm???!!!

It is simple. Poverty is caused by there not being sufficient well paid secure jobs with good benefits with the result that tens of millions of people have no jobs or jobs that are so badly paid that they can only result in poverty. Capitalism cannot admit this because it is too simple and too damning for their system. So they come out with their "culture crap." The politicians and academics who come out with this propaganda and lies, they are the ones who should be unemployed, or at the very least transfered from their present jobs and retrained in the real ways of the world. A first step might be for them to be advised to keep their mouth shut.

Look at the madness and stupidity of these people. One study by these people printed up envelopes, with addresses and stamps attached, went into a poor neighborhood and scattered them around. It also went into a better off neighborhood and did the same. They claimed more were picked up and posted in mail boxes in the poor neighborhoods and this proved you see the culture of poverty that existed there was greater than in the better off neighborhood and so etc. etc. etc. etc. As I say these people should be removed from their jobs and retrained.

A huge dent could be made in poverty in a matter of months if the right policies were carried out. The US infrastructure is in terrible shape and needs to be repaired and in many cases replaced; bridges, roads, etc. Schools and hospitals and child care facilities need to be built. Heath care workers have to be trained and put to work. In other words a huge program of public works is necessary. This would create tens of millions of jobs. These should be at union rates and conditions. This in turn would increase demand and create more jobs. This is the way to begin to tackle poverty. But of course this would come up against the hysterical assault of capitalism and its stooges in the Republican and Democratic parties who want all economic activity to be controlled by them and run on the profit basis, or more crudely on the basis that "nothing moves unless it fills my pocket" basis.

How would such a program of public works be financed you might say? Well instead of bailing out the banks and Wall Street these could have been taken over and all the finances used for such a program. Then there is the two wars, Afghanistan and Iraq, the longest wars in US history. In the nine years of these wars so far US capitalism has spent $1 trillion dollars. End these wars and move the war spending and all military spending to the areas mentioned above. Tax the rich to the pips squeak and use the proceeds to fund this public works spending. This would be a start. This is the direction in which to go, not talk about the so called culture of poverty. Talking about this is an insult to poor people and a way to divert attention from the failure of capitalism to give people a decent life.

It is so terrible that political leaders could not show any real vision in dealing with poverty. There are less and less good jobs and this leaves people without hope. We got to create a better future for our kids.
