Revolutionary hangover

This past week I was at a political conference. We talked about orgnaizing, how to build a movement and challenge sexism within organizations that actually want to fight sexism. All in all it was productive. I even took the day off Monday to get some rest.

Sadly enough I was feeling fine until last night when I had some body aches and I guess a cold. Since I took Monday off I wanted to go into work today and show that I was willing to work as long as I could and then head home early.

I go in and I still felt like shit. Since some of the people I work with have compromised immune systems I thought it better to leave without infecting them, even a higher up was saying I needed to go home. My supervisor came in late he said because he had a flat tire. When I told him I was sick and leaving early he said, " Why did you come in?" and then " If you get me sick I am not going to be happy". He then made the comment, "It is probably because you were out partying". Of course in all these comments there was no concern about my actual health.

With the bosses it is never enough! You work your butt off and they say you are working too hard, you leave (I didnt call in from home) and then they say you " party too much". What about this guy? Did he really have a " flat tire" or too many margaritas? And what would have happened if I called in? Bastards. The friendly, joking atmosphere of social services and non-profits only exists for the bosses. It is meant to lull you into working hard and helping them more than yourself. to give a you a sense of being helpful. I want nothing of it. I am glad this guy said that to me. Sometimes you need reminders from the enemy. I am sick but my anger is making feel better me. The truth can do that.
