Women at the Fruits Warehouse Form Unity.

At the Warehouse where the strict "Safety Codes" are being enforced workers have yet to go through more problems: Harrassment from petty supervisors. The labor from which the company makes most of its profits are from the hands of women, who sort all day to make the fruits look presentable. In each crew there are 15 women 3 men who help haul boxes and a supervisor who manages and inspects the work.

For a year now, the supervisor from Lourde's crew has been harrassing the women and men. He has yelled at them, insulted them, made them cry and then send them home. The women of this crew have complained to the higher ranking supervisors one by one, but nothing has come from their efforts to get him fired. The bosses turn a blind eye to this kind of treatment and think that the problem will go away. Its frustrating to think that when you go to work you have to feel even more oppressed than what you already are.

Its only time that these women have before they begin to organize.

Recently they started talking to one another about how the supervisor oppresses them by making them feel miserable and hopeless. They saw that this man was only using the divide and conquer method in order to get women pinned against each other and further the main bosses work. He's a sneaky bastard! They see what he is doing to confuse them and have decided that if they were to fight this man they will have to unite. Their fight has only begun and are now starting to talk to other workers to join in with them. To no surprise almost the entire crew is together and are getting prepared to wage a battle against him. Lourde's crew has now been talking to other crews in the warehouse about this person. Many of which feel good that they are doing this.

In one moment Lourdes was working sorting cucumbers, then suddenly the supervisor took her empty boxes away saying he needs these boxes and that she'll have to wait until more come later. She stood strong and said "Hay! I need those boxes and you need to them give back!" She didn't hesitate and just took them and started passing them around for other women. Everyone laughed and one person said "He thinks he's the lion and where his cubs".

Before when they weren't talking, they usually kept to themselves. Maybe two or three workers would sit together while eating lunch, but recently since they have shared their problems, most of them sit in one table eating and chating away, while the the supervisor sits by himself in another table.

The women and men have been going through so much that they have had it. Their fight is only the begining. Hopefully they see that this problem is not the root of all problems, but of the company and their rules to chose when they want to intervene and setting "Safety Codes" that oppress the workers even more. With time, after they have given this supervisor hell, they have seen that when workers come together, their fights are more successful, rather than individual fights on their own.
