The Economist

The Economist is one of British capitalism's most respected journals. This week it has one headline on its front cover. "Capitalism At Bay."  Yes it is at bay alright. And it is at bay from its own crisis. Imagine what could be happening if the trade union and labour leaders would organize the working class to take on and overthrow this system. Sean

Yes its at bay alright, at bay from itself. This perilous situation exists without any push from an opponent, or any serious push. I believe it is clear, and that we should all recognize this, that capitalism would collapse, would fall, were the leadership there to assist in that.

Trotsky wrote before the second world war that the crisis of the working class is a crisis of leadership, this is never more evident than today. If we don't recognize this then we would draw the false conclusion that capitalism is invincible and everlasting.
