US Military spending 53.3% of total US federal spending. |
US capitalism has its military. Most of us do not think about it this way as we are indoctrinated to think of it as being our defense forces. As well as not seeing the reality in terms of what this military is most of us do not grasp the extent of this force. Overall there are 2.5 million people involved one way or another in the US military. This is the size of the workforce of a small country. What a waste, 53% of every dollar the government takes from the US taxpayer goes to the military. Ah I can hear. But somebody might invade us. Yes who is going to invade the US with its over 200 million people and guns in the hands of the overwhelming majority. No the 2.5 million people involved in the US military are there to protect US capitalism from its own working class, from its rivals abroad, and to protect its resources abroad. Military spending in all its myriad forms works out to represent 53.3% of total US federal spending.
Look at this staggering fact. Please guess how many countries in which US capitalism have military bases? I am confident you would not get close. According to the Department of so-called Defense, it should be called the department of War, US capitalism has 737 military bases in 130 countries and this is talking only about the ones they admit to. It is estimated that in actual fact they have bases in over 1,000 countries. Imagine any other country with bases in 1,000 countries around the world. US capitalism would go mad if this was the case. And US capitalism has another 6,000 bases in the US and territories itself. As I say they have to be ready to keep their own working class down.

We need to promote less aggression throughout the world.why don't we spend this money to create more jobs.we need to lift more people out of poverty and make our middle class stronger.does the strong always have to dominate the weak.we confuse ourselves by creating too many artificial boundaries.let's not create war and hopelessness for ourselves.
