Israeli settlers attack Palestinian girl in Ramallah, stab and kill her sheep

RAMALLAH
(Ma'an) -- A group of Israeli settlers attacked and beat a Palestinian
girl in the village of Rammun in the eastern part of the occupied West
Bank district of Ramallah on Thursday, according to Palestinian locals and an Israeli police spokesperson.
The Palestinian girl, who was herding sheep in the village at the time, sustained injuries after the incident, while 11 of her sheep were reportedly stabbed by the Israeli settlers, locals told Ma’an. Several of the sheep died of their stab wounds.
The attack took place near the Bedouin communities located in eastern Ramallah, on the road between Ramallah and Jericho.
Israeli police spokeswoman Luba al-Samri confirmed the incident in a statement, saying that Israeli police had received a notice from Palestinian authorities that a Palestinian girl was attacked on Thursday morning by a group of masked men, before the men fled the area and set fire to nearby bushes.
Al-Samri added that the Palestinian girl had filed a complaint and Israeli police were currently investigating the incident.
Settler attacks on Palestinians and their property are a near daily occurrence in the West Bank, where Palestinians are surrounded by some 500,000 to 600,000 Israeli settlers residing in at least 196 settlements on occupied Palestinian territory.
Since the start of 2016, some 71 attacks have already been reported, with at least 221 attacks carried out in 2015, according to UN documentation. However, the number is likely much higher, as many attacks on Palestinians often go unreported.
