The mass media is full of
different views and opinions about the young woman Rachel A. Dolezal who has
apparently said she is Black when she is not. It is impossible to follow all
the ins and outs of this case.
But a few things I would say. It is true this young woman's actions have given another opportunity for the racist forces to stir up their racism. It is also true it has given more ammunition to the divide and rule forces of the racist capitalist class which runs this country. There is little they and their bought and paid for mass media like more than to keep the population arguing about race, gender, sexual orientation, age, or whatever as long as it divides the working class.
However and it is a big however, and it should be emphasized, because to me it seems indisputable and it is the most important point about this young woman's behavior: This young woman, regardless of what tactical mistakes she made, whatever wrong decisions she made, this young woman was anti racist and worked against racism. She must get credit for this. There are a lot of others and other forces who are making a big deal of Ms. Dolezal's actions who are not acting in any way as honorable. Many of them are hiding their racism behind their hypocritical whining about what she did and did not do. She fought and fights racism. This is the bottom line for me. We can go into whether she did so as effectively as she could after we establish that fact.
