Stand your ground law. Sinister corporate forces.

These vicious right wing corporate organizations have a trick. They call themselves the most innocuous names. One is known as the American Legislative Exchange Council. (ALEC) This outfit is funded by the right wing corporations such as the Koch Brothers, Exxon Mobil, Coca Cola, UPS, AT and T. and so on. This outfit literally writes laws and presents them to legislatures and then bribes and blackmails so-called law makers to pass them.

In one state, Virginia, more than 50 ALEC drafted bills have been introduced. Many of these are for privatizations, that is taking publicly owned property and services and turning these over to the profit addicted corporations. Schools, prisons, are on the list, tax breaks for the rich are on the list. The so called Corrections Corporation of America benefits a lot. There are not too many Wall Street criminals being corrected in there needlessly to say. ALEC also sponsors bills that make it hard for the poor and minorities to vote. And the American Bail Coalition has described ALEC as its "life preserver." The National Rifle Association (NRA) are close allies with ALEC.

This coalition of right wing corporations and politicians are part of the offensive against the working class. they want to take back all that was won by the working class, the black revolt and the Women's revolt. However they are going too far. The reaction to the de-funding of Planned Parenthood, the huge response and outpouring of anger against the killing of Trayvon Martin shows that working class people and youth are rising to their feet.

And it is here that the murder of Trayvon Martin comes in. The NRA were the main force pushing the so called "Stand your ground Bill" in the Florida legislature. Even the cops there were against it. But the NRA, reflecting the outlook of of big corporations to keep the working class and poor beaten down and to keep gun sales high overruled the cops and got their corporate representative Bush as then governor to sign this bill into law. ALEC, the NRA, the profit addicted corporations, their drive for profit and to take back all that was won in the past 100 years, this is what is behind the murder of Trayvon Martin.

But this is not all. There is the racism that is still endemic in US society. There have been great steps forward against racism in the past decades. The heroic black revolt saw to this as did the increasing merging of workers from all backgrounds in the paid workforce. All workers must take an open stand against the murder of Trayvon Martin and racism and sexism. All these are weapons in the hands of the bosses as capitalism as they facilitate divide and rule.

For working class unity against the murder of Trayvon Martin and against racism and sexism.
For working class unity against the offensive and divide and rule policies of the big corporations which they pursue to increase their profits and power.

For the unity of the working class in mass independent trade unions and community organizations and a mass workers party.

Sean.
