Syrians brave police violence as they demand change

If one thing stands out above all others in the uprisings we have seen in the Arab world throughout the first part of this year it is the absence of a revolutionary leadership armed with a program that can take society forward.  This is not just the case at the national level but an international organization that could link all the struggles together.  Activists, anti-capitalists and genuine militants in the US must recognize this as we have just seen an unprecedented development, the beginnings of what could have been a generalized movement against the capitalist offensive in the US as 100,000 filled the streets of Madison Wisconsin only to be derailed and its remnants directed in to electoral activity on behalf of the Democratic Party.  Organization and leadership is the greatest crisis we face in the workers' movement today.
